Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School

Lead Inclusion Schools are inclusion champions and are visionaries for what high quality, meaningful and inclusive PE and school sport should look like for every child.

St Mary’s College, strategically delivered through the Hull Active Schools partnership, are the Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School for the Humber Area. We are part of a network of 60 schools nationally who promote the inclusion of all students in physical education and school sport.

Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion Schools are inclusion champions and are visionaries for what high quality, meaningful and inclusive PE and school sport should look like for every child. Hull Active Schools work with staff across the Humber area to empower them to be more inclusive in their practice, provide meaningful competition and competition pathways for young people, raising their aspirations and providing meaningful inclusive leadership opportunities.

The Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School network forms part of the organisations ongoing commitment to equality and diversity. Through the work programme, the Youth Sport Trust strives to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to participate in high quality PE and sport, regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender, ability or indeed any other personal characteristic. The programme has included the following;

  1. Paralympic Learning and Discovery Day for secondary school children in partnership with Active Humber.

  2. Active 30:30 Champions and Step into Sport Camp for secondary school students aged 11-19.

  3. Support for staff within primary, secondary, special schools and alternative provision.

  4. Delivery of county inclusion competitions working with a range of partners such as Disability Sport Yorkshire, Panathlon, Yorkshire Cricket Board, Active Humber, Humberside Schools FA and Launchpad Trampoline Academy.
