U11s Badminton Championships
14 primary school Badminton teams battled it out to be crowned Under 11 Primary Badminton Champions at our flagship Badminton event at Hull University. The format involves 5 ranked players competing in timed singles matches versus their opponent with the same rank, with an overall team score taken at the end of the match.
During the competition, students take on the responsibility of scoring. With that in mind, the Spirit of the Games focus during the competition was on ‘HONESTY’ and each team judged their opponents in private on how honest and truthful they conducted themselves. Mountbatten Primary School and Stepney A team received the most points from their competitors and left with the Honesty award.
The first half of the competition saw the 14 teams split into two groups of 7, with each team playing one another in a round robin format. Victoria Dock and Ings A teams remained unbeaten to win their groups and were joined by the runner ups Adelaide and Ings B in the semi-finals.
Congratulations to Victoria Dock who went on to win the competition, remaining unbeaten throughout! As worthy runners up Ings A received the Silver medals and Adelaide secured the bronze with a close victory over Ings B in the 3rd/4th play off! Here is the finishing order of school teams;
