Racket Pack Festival 2020
Hull University hosted the gigantic Hull Active Schools Badminton Racket Pack festival. 16 school teams attended and over 140+ young people took part. The day included two separate festivals running side by side, delivered by the Sports Scholarship Students from Sirius Academy West.
The Racket Pack is a new primary age badminton programme tailored to suit young people. With smaller courts, nets and rackets, the Racket Pack offers the ideal environment for young players to develop their skills whilst having fun. For ages 7+, the Racket Pack Festival provides success for all. The festival can be easily adapted for varying numbers or different abilities and provides a suitable introduction to the core skills for playing Badminton.
School teams compete together, receiving scores for each completed skill at the different activity stations. On top of the scoring for skill demonstrated, we also held a ‘Self-Belief’ competitions. This provided a school from each festival an award for demonstrating this school games value, selected by the Sirius Academy Leaders.
Well done to St Richard’s and St Mary Queen of Martyrs for winning the ‘Self-Belief’ award. The following schools finished in the top 3 places based on skill scoring;
Priory Primary School and Longhill Primary School
St Richard’s VC Academy and Kingswood Parks Primary School
