Enrichment Framework
Hull Active Schools sport and physical activity events can support much more than participation alone. Alongside the ‘Sport and Physical Activity’ strand in the DfE Enrichment Framework, many of our events provide opportunities for pupils to experience wider areas of enrichment through leadership, volunteering, teamwork, problem-solving, outdoor activity, creativity and community involvement.
-
School sport provides young people with genuine opportunities to contribute and take responsibility. Through our leadership programme and events, pupils can volunteer as sports leaders, coaches, referees, umpires and officials. Supporting other young people and playing an active role within their school and wider community.
-
Some of our opportunities take physical activity beyond the traditional sports hall or playing field. Activities such as orienteering encourage pupils to explore their surroundings, navigate, solve problems, work together and develop confidence in outdoor environments.
-
The learning within school sport extends far beyond physical skills. Events such as team competitions, Dodgeball and Panathlon encourage pupils to communicate, solve problems, make decisions, manage success and disappointment, build resilience and form new relationships. While leadership opportunities develop confidence, responsibility and independence.
